How to Clear Your Web Browser's Cache

When I test a survey in my browser, sometimes the graphics don't appear as they are defined. For example, I changed one of my graphics but I still see the old version in the browser. What's going wrong?

If you have made changes to the graphics in your survey, but the images aren't showing up, it may be caused by the cache in your web browser. If your browser is set to cache files, this means that it downloads the content of a page once, and then in the future when it returns to that page, it serves up the locally stored or cached content. Turning off this setting, or deleting your cache may solve the problem. However, you should know that clearing your web browser's cache, cookies, and history may remove data such as the following:

  • Saved passwords
  • Address bar predictions
  • Shopping cart contents, etc.

While you should clear your web browser's cache, cookies, and history periodically in order to prevent or resolve performance problems, you may wish to record some of your saved information first.

In most computer-based web browsers, to open menus used to clear your cache, cookies, and history, press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Windows) or Command-Shift-Delete (Mac). If this doesn't work, follow the appropriate instructions below.
